DETAILED SPECIFICATION
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 SCOPE
  • A. Furnish and install SNAP-TEX acoustical fabric system as manufactured by SNAP-TEX Systems Australia and as required by the contract documents.
  • B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere:
1. Preparation of smooth, flat and plumb substrate
2. Architectural woodwork, masonry, doors and frames, hardware, gypsum drywall, plastering, ceilings, wall covering, painting and electrical work.
1.02 STANDARDS
  • A. The acoustical sub-surface shall have a Fire Hazard Classification acceptable for the purpose of the proposed installation.
1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE
  • A. The installation work of this section shall be performed by a SNAP-TEX Systems Australia licensed installer.
1.04 SUBMITTALS
  • A. Submit manufacturer's product specifications and such other data as may be required to show compliance with the Contract documents.
  • B. Submit SNAP-TEX Installer-standard one year warranty against defects in workmanship.
1.05 PRODUCT HANDLING
  • A. Store all materials off the ground and protected from dirt and dust of construction operations.
  • B. Handle all materials in a manner that will protect them from damage and soiling.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01 ACOUSTICAL FABRIC MOUNTING SYSTEM
  • A. The System shall consist of a site installed and fabricated, concealed SNAP-TEX System distributed by:

  • B. The system components shall consist of the following:
1. Rigid PVC SNAP-TEX track framework with patented locking jaws and flexible hinge section in either 9mm, 12.5mm, 16mm or 25mm in either Round, Square or Bevel profiles.
2. Acoustical sub-surface compressible polyester batting.
3. Optional - sub-surface material complying building codes on NCR values and Fire Retardant ratings.
4. Fabric: to be supplied by the installer: (a) Name (b) Pattern (c) Colour
5. Customer's own material (COM) shall be approved by the installer as to suitability. The following information concerning the COM shall be submitted to the installer by the architect or owner: (a) Fabric manufacturer (b) Pattern (c) Colour (d) Width of fabric (e) Length of bolt (f) A one metre sample for test suitability
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 EXISTING CONDITIONS
  • A. Examine the condition of the substrate and the conditions under which the work has to be performed. Notify the contractor in writing of any unsatisfactory conditions. Do not proceed until such conditions have been corrected in a manner satisfactory to the installer.
  • B. Do not install the wall panel fabric until:
1. The space has been enclosed and is weathertight.
2. All wet work has been completed and is dry.
3. Painting is complete and wall base & floor covering are installed.
4. All adjacent and related work of other trades has been completed including in part, architectural woodwork, masonry, doors & frames, hardware, gypsym drywall, plastering, wall covering, painting, ceiling grid and electrical work.
5. Ambient temperature and humidity are continuously maintained at values, indicated for final acceptance of the building or occupancy of the space.
3.02 INSTALLATION
  • A. Field measure each wall area which is to receive the acoustical treatment to establish the exact layout of the units as shown on elevations.
  • B. Apply the SNAP-TEX framework of rigid PVC looking track at the perimeter of the wall or area to receive the acoustical treatment as shown on the drawings. Secure the track with special diverting staples at intervals that will give the SNAP-TEX permanent fixing to the substrate.
Optional fasteners may be used as may be required for special substrates, providing they are in strict accordance with the manufacturer's printed instructions and comply with governing regulations and fire resistance rating requirements specified.
  • C. Install SNAP-TEX framework plumb and straight, flush and in proper alignment.
  • D. Install the sub-surface material, continuous and flush, in proper alignment.
  • E. Cut the fabric from each roll maintaining sequence of drops and matching direction of weave for sequential and uniform installation.
  • F. Install fabric into locking jaws of the track framework. The fabric shall be stretched tautly and smoothly and free of defects and flaws. The fabric grain shall be plumb and aligned vertically and horizontally.
3.03 CLEANING AND PROTECTION
  • A. Clean exposed surfaces of the SNAP-TEX Acoustical Fabric Mounting Systems wall panels. Trim and remove all loose threads.
  • B. Remove surplus materials, rubbish and debris resulting from the SNAP-TEX installation and leave areas of installation in a neat, clean condition.
  • C. Optional: If site conditions require, cover fabric panel(s) with plastic or a suitable drop cloth for protection until owner occupation.
